Unlock it For Me recently had the pleasure of welcoming the Society of Professional Locksmiths (SOPL) Founder Tom Lynch, to the State of Alabama! The purpose for visiting was to seek the Alabama Electronic Security Board of Licensure (AESBL) approval for 39 training courses. Many locksmiths in Alabama have been concerned about costs associated with licensing and continuing education which can be prohibitive to smaller Mom & Pop operations. The AESBL held a meeting on August 14th, 2017 where one business owner, Brooks Stevens of Stevens & Son Locksmith stated that the associated costs for keeping an additional employee licensed and educated was prohibiting him from being able to hire new employees. The SOPL presentation was compelling and it enlightened many who prematurely had formed opinions regarding the Society of Professional Locksmiths without truly taking into consideration, and discovering what they are all about. The AESBL approved all 39 SOPL courses unanimously! Professional locksmiths in Alabama cannot afford to be complacent and must keep themselves abreast of the latest industry tools, techniques, and alternative educational opportunities. Although it may seem silly to require a locksmith to continue to participate in previously learned skillsets to stay compliant for maintaining a licensing, the SOPL beings to Alabama new and exciting methods of training that make it affordable, convenient and worth experiencing.
